Get the right router for music downloads

Getting the best router is essential to being able to perform your online downloads most effectively. You don’t want your internet to fail half way through downloading your favourite album or take 5 days to complete it! Here is some router info to help you make the choice:

Routers are hardware devices that function to move packet of data along computer networks. A router is connected to at least two networks: usually two LANs (Local Area Networks) or WANS (Wide Area Networks) or a LAN and the ISP (your Internet service provider) network. Routers are situated at a gateway or node where two networks connect together, and are the important electronic components that enable data to move between the networks and connect to the internet.

When you send data to other locations either within one network or to another network altogether the data is always steered to the correct location by the router, which uses headers (file information) to determine the best overall route. Routers also use protocols (such as Internet Control Message Protocol – ICMP) to send messages between two different hosts.  The global network that is called the internet needs routers to connect the millions of computers to smaller networks. It is a vital piece of equipment.

Home or small office computer users may want to set up a LAN or WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) to connect all their computers to the internet or to each other, and this is what routers are designed for. Routers for this purpose can be bought at many computer stores or other stores selling electronic components.
